Kala collaborates with Māori artist Sam Mangakahia to bring you The Voyage Collection, featuring native Māori artwork. Sam has been telling stories through Māori art for 13 years and has created over 450 custom artworks. Three designs/stories depicting authentic Māori-inspired artwork focus on important aspects of life's voyage. Resilient Nā’ū (Hawaiian Gardenia): Nā’ū is a resource for creative and artistic expression, and its vibrant nature reminds us to never give up on our passions despite the many challenges we face. This design was inspired by the endangered Hawaiian gardenia, commonly known as Na'u. The flowers have traditionally been used in flower leis, the stems in kapa cloth, and the fruits as natural dyes.
