It features long panels of white mother-of-pearl, which is extracted from a naturally occurring brine and meticulously cut, fitted, measured and polished by hand. White mother-of-pearl changes colour with the light, shifting from white to pink, green and grey hues. 18K gold plated brass hardware with 0.999 platinum plated grips. These pens may vary slightly in color and texture - these are not defects, rather this natural texture makes your pen unique. Some manufacturers create pens from short cuts of mother-of-pearl. However, we believe it is difficult to achieve the beauty of a single, long panel of saltwater nacre. For our design team, finding a way to craft an entire pen from these single, long panels of mother-of-pearl was extremely challenging. The biggest obstacles were not only the cost of sourcing saltwater white mother-of-pearl, but also the technical ability to carefully cut each panel to the ideal straight line, glue each panel to the barrel, and polish the barrel to the ideal roundness. However, we believed these obstacles could be overcome. Xezo embarked on this project in 2018, but it wasn't until 2020 that we were able to overcome the technical challenges and produce the first batch of 700 fountain pens and 400 rollerball pens. Each of these highly unique pens is individually numbered and crafted entirely by hand from a single piece of saltwater white mother-of-pearl. The mother-of-pearl we use is a natural material. Each panel is unique, so slight variations in color and texture may occur, making your pen a one-of-a-kind item. Each pen features 18k gold-plated brass hardware and a grip section overlaid with 0.999 platinum. This fountain pen comes with a silky-smooth 0.6mm medium-point stainless steel nib.
