The Type 89 Armored Fighting Vehicle was Japan's first fully-fledged infantry fighting vehicle, officially adopted in 1989.
Equipped with a 35mm cannon and a Type 79 anti-boat anti-tank guided missile launcher, the rear crew compartment with gunports can accommodate seven infantry regiment personnel.
