■Care Instructions for Ebonite Mouthpieces■

High-quality ebonite is used to make mouthpieces. Due to the properties of its components, the silver plating may tarnish for a certain period of time after manufacture. New mouthpieces may retain the properties of the ebonite material, causing discoloration if stored in an instrument case with silver-plated instruments, ligatures, or caps. Storing mouthpieces in a hot, humid environment can also cause discoloration. To prevent discoloration of the silver plating, we recommend storing the mouthpiece separately from the instrument for a certain period of time, such as in the outer pocket of your instrument case (wrapped in a soft, non-damaging cloth). (Discoloration will be less likely after seasoning.)
